New Year's Cold

Yesterday, in the middle of our cold snap, we went to the botanic gardens to see the indoor exhibits and wander around some of the outdoor gardens. Unfortunately, this is the only picture from the day... it turns out, the camera got too cold to function properly after just a short while! That used to happen to me when I lived in MN, but that was several cameras ago. This was the first time I'd had it happen with this one. Honestly, I tried to take one other, but I'm not sure I would have made much of a photo chronicle... although I was dressed warmly enough, I didn't see a whole lot because I was bundled to the point of not being able to move my head side to side or even look up!

  1. Great photo!
It's cold down here too (Georgia) - not near as cold as you're experiencing. But I've started to walk around with my camera tucked inside my coat to keep it warm.

  2. Whew, stay warm! I'm sorry you weren't able to get photos from the indoor exhibits. That would have made all of us feel a tad bit warmer.

I just found your blog through Blue Jay Barrens and I love phenology, so I'll be back.

  3. That photo is hilarious. You two are a lot braver than I am, I want to take some winter pictures but don't want to brave the cold.

BTW, are you participating in One Seed Chicago this year? If you haven't heard about it check out my blog, I have a post on it on my homepage at the moment.

    Hope you can participate.

  5. I voted for my plant/seed!

I'm glad our bundled-up-ness can bring joy to others. It got some mocking from our companions at the time...
