Snap

Well, the cold is back... and it's worse than before. At least, it seems worse. I think our weekend of warmth got us all wimpy and unaccustomed. Now that it's back down to the single digits, it seems unbearable for some reason. (And cold is more tolerable when there's snow -- which there is not right now. Just very treacherous ice in some spots.)

Yesterday in one of my classes, I had a student in a tank top. I mentioned that it was, you know, cold out, and she said, "Well, I'm ready for summer and this makes me think it's coming." OK... I'm ready for summer, too, but I'm still realistic enough to dress for the weather we have now. I suppose if that kid doesn't get pneumonia or something, it's a nice optimistic attitude. Or something.

  1. I am a little embarrassed to admit that I understand the attitude of your tank-topped student.....about this time of year I start thinking that if I refuse to wear a coat, refuse to acknowledge that winter is still here, she will go away. So mostly I end up cold. A lot. But then April comes and I forget about it all 'til next January.

  2. I am actually happy when it is this cold in January. Its the start of winter and deserves to be cold. Of course I like the cold much better with a foot of snow on the ground.
